Work Lists: Overview And Management (Introduction)

Work Lists in COTAX draw your attention to matters that may need attention. Cases appear on the lists because

  • You have taken an action

  • COTAX has reviewed the record

Work Lists are

  • A major part of COTAX

  • Up to date on-screen displays of categories of cases needing review

Each Work List has a four character function code. You can access any Work List function available to your user role from the menu.

Many of the functions you need to use to deal with cases are accessible from Work Lists. By working from the lists you can

  • See and deal with all the cases that need the same type of action

  • Put cases in order automatically

  • Work cases in the order that suits you best

  • Get work done more efficiently

  • See what is urgent

  • See the overall picture for a case

There are different types of Work List

  • Immediate Action Work Lists flagging cases requiring priority attention

  • Lists showing that specific action is needed

  • Lists for controlling routine work

  • Lists for managers to check the work state

Local Management should develop a policy for handling Work Lists so that staff know

  • Which Work Lists should be reviewed and by whom

  • How often to review them

  • What action to take as a result

For more information about a particular Work List see the appropriate business area.
