COM121001 - Repayments / reallocations: inhibit automatic process: introduction
The computer handles most reallocations and repayments automatically and calculates any repayment interest due.
The computer does not make automatic reallocations or repayments when certain conditions exist on the overpaid AP. Automatic reallocations are also not made where certain conditions exist on the potentially receiving AP. For further information on these conditions see subject 'Overpayments That Cannot Be Handled Automatically' (COM121010).
You can also prevent the computer from making automatic repayments and reallocations by setting the appropriate signals.
However, if the company have
- Asked for the Inhibit Small Repayment (Word 34KB) standard value of £20 or less to apply
Or
- Specified a different limit
COTAX will not automatically repay such an amount but instead will reallocate it to
- Current liabilities where they exist
Or
- Future liabilities
COTAX inhibits repayments for 14 days for some repayments that have certain conditions present and enters the cases on the work list ORUR (Overpayments Requiring Urgent Review List). These overpayments need to be reviewed urgently within the 14 day inhibit period.
COTAX enters other overpayments that it cannot handle automatically on the following work lists
- LOPD (Overpayments List)
- LOPU (Overpayments Review List)
- MRPL (Manual Repayments List)
For more information about work lists see
- Business area 'Work Lists'
- Section 'Repayment / Reallocation Work Lists' in this business area
You can make reallocations or repayments by using one of the online reallocation and repayment functions when the computer does not handle them automatically.
