COM33020 - Background: typical case examples: new company - CT41G not returned
A new company is incorporated, but does not comply with the normal requirement to provide necessary information. The example covers live APs, dormant (Word 28KB) periods and the use of the appropriate COTAX update functions.
The events are numbered chronologically, and identified as follows
- Business Event - Action taken or arising outside HMRC
- Automatic Event - Automatic COTAX action within HMRC
- Procedural Action - Action taken by an operator

If the company has submitted a paper return, a clerical caseworker - Logs the return, using Function LRTN (Log Return) - Captures it using Function CRTN (Capture Return) And - Records a Nil self assessment (Word 28KB)$attachments/self_assessment.doc on the final screen of Function CRTN If the company has submitted the return electronically - COTAX captures the details automatically and records the self assessment Note: Strictly there is no self assessment as the period covered by the return is not an AP, but no harm is done by recording a Nil self assessment in cases in which the return is delivered by the filing date |
