COM32140 - Background: features of COTAX: view only functions

With the introduction of COTAX, the opportunity has been taken to amend the ‘View Only’ access provided by the computer.

Previously it was not possible to access a case already being used by another operator, whether that operator was in ‘Update’ or ‘View Only’ mode.

You can now however, see a case in ‘View Only’ mode if another user is also examining the case, or even if another operator is updating the record.

It follows that if your examination of the record was because you were about to take a time sensitive action, you may need to seek confirmation of the current position from any other office involved with the case.

For example

• If you are about to take some recovery action, you must bear in mind that there may have been up date action taking place at the same time as you were viewing the record or afterwards

And

• Ensure you check the position again, immediately prior to proceeding
