COM32070 - Background: features of COTAX: hover help

‘Hover Help’ is a brief single line description, shown at the bottom of a screen, which you see when your mouse pointer rests in a field or on a screen button.

Hover help provides you with a short guide to the type of entry required in a field or a brief description of the use of a button.

Examples 

The Hover help text for the field Enter Company Reference is

• ‘Enter the 10 character unique taxpayer reference in the format 1234567890’

The Hover help text for the [Exit] button is

• ‘Click here to abandon this function and return to menu keeping the UTR’

Where a field is unobtainable, or a button is greyed out because no action can be taken on it, hover help is not displayed.
