COM20190 - Assessing: CT pay and file assessments: notices of assessment
COTAX issues a notice of assessment for a CT Pay and File AP to the company or other person or body acting in capacity (Word 44KB), with a copy to their agent if form 64-8(New) has been received and noted on the COTAX record.
The notice to the company also contains preset messages. The messages printed depend on the type of notice, (main, amended or further), and include as appropriate
- The name of any agent who has been sent a copy of the notice
- The right of appeal
- A reminder of the interest consequences if tax is paid late
- A determination of an appeal
The notice will also include any free format message you entered when using the assessing function.
It also includes a payslip and a reconciliation statement, showing the payment position for the AP for
- Tax
- Interest
- Penalties
COTAX will not issue an assessment to an address recorded on the record as RLS. Instead it
- Stores the assessment details
- Does not create an assessment charge posting on the record
- Sets the attribute ‘Output Awaiting Issue’ on RRLS (Registered Office RLS list)
When you find an alternative address and enter it on the company’s record, COTAX displays a message advising you that there is output awaiting issue. You then use Function PAST (Prepare Full Assessment) to confirm the assessment details and COTAX will issue the notice of assessment.
You can use Function DASS (Display Assessment Details) to see if an assessment has been issued.
