COM140020 - Work lists: work lists: overview and management: view and update access to work lists
Most of the work lists have view and update versions. Each version has a different four character function code. For example
- The update version of ‘Determination Required No Return’ work list has a function code of DRNR
Whereas
- The view version of that work list has a function code of DRNV
Depending on your user role, you will have either view or update access to the appropriate work lists.
View access
View access allows you to
- See the list of cases
- Filter and sort the list
- Set a BF date
- Record a BF note
- Print the list of cases
- See more details about a particular case on the work list

View access does not allow you to work the cases on the list. It is intended for
- Clerical support staff to use to help to prepare the lists, or get out the files for the operator who will work cases from the work list
And
- Revenue personnel such as Internal Auditors visiting offices who do not need access to update functions
Update access
Update access provides all the features of view access and enables you to
- Move directly to the function you need to deal with cases on the work list by
- Listing alternative functions that you may want to use when working the case
- Giving access to any of the functions available to you in your user role
You can also
- Delete cases manually from most work lists
- View a statistical break down of the cases on the list
- Identify all of the work lists on which an entry appears for a specific company
When you have completed your task COTAX will take you back to the work list so that you can select and work another case.
