COM132100 - Returns / notices: return handling: viewing an online amended return


To view the content of an amended E-Filed Return, including attachments, you must use the ‘View E filed CT Returns’ functionality.

You can get to that functionality

  • From the icon ‘CT View Returns’ in the ‘companies’ folder in the ‘My Services’ tab in ‘My Workplace’
Or
  • By using the [View E Return] button provided in Functions
    • DASS (Display Assessment Details)
And
    • DRTN (Display Return Data)

When you select the button, you are taken to the ‘Select Company’ entry screen for ‘View E filed CT Returns’. When you enter the 10 digit UTR and select go, you will see the ‘Period of Return Overview’ screen. That screen shows you

  • A list of accounting periods with returns received online
  • The type of return submitted, for example original or amended
  • The date the return was submitted
  • Full details of the CT600, supplementary pages and attachments submitted, when you select the hyperlinks to drill down to the information

The [View E-Return] button will only be enabled when an original return has been filed online, and recorded as such on COTAX.

If an original return has been manually submitted, and is then followed by an online amendment, the [View E-Return] button in COTAX is not enabled, and the only method of viewing the amended return is through the IR Portal.

Because COTAX does not capture details of amended returns, it is not possible to view any amended return details in Function DRTN (Display Return Data).

To preserve the confidentiality of taxpayer information when using the ‘View E filed CT Returns’ functionality

  • Any office can view a CT600 return submitted online
But
  • Only the owning office can view its attachments
