CERTIFICATES: INTRODUCTION
This paragraph serves as an introductory overview of certificate
issue; for deeper coverage use the above links to information or
action guides.
The issue of certificates to subcontractors and those wishing
to hold certificates on their behalf is a high priority matter. The
ability of the subcontractor to receive payment from a contractor
depends on possession of a certificate or Registration Card. It is
therefore most important that all issues around certificate
applications and replacements are dealt with urgently.
This part of the manual covers the period from the time a
complete and properly authorised application form for a certificate
is sent as part of a secure batch from the Processing Office to the
CIS Centre until its receipt by the applicant. It includes the
following subjects
- Certificates returned RLS
- Certificates not received
- The CIS Centre.
Note that applications for additional copies of CIS5
certificates are dealt with in the module on examination of
applications at CIS3170.
Note that applications rejected at the CIS Centre because
they are incomplete in some way are dealt with under `Examination
of applications' at CIS3100.
TURNAROUND TIMES FOR CERTIFICATE ISSUE
Under normal circumstances, the CIS Centre will process
applications andissue certificates within 3 days of receipt of a
properly authorised and complete application form.
