CERTIFICATE STATUS: INTRODUCTION
This paragraph serves as an introductory overview of certificate
status; for deeper coverage use the above links to information or
action guides.
This module explains the various possible status settings for
a CIS certificate and how to view and amend that status using the
CIS system. It also explains what to do on receipt of a certificate
returned to the Revenue where the holder has no further use for it.
You can view the status of a certificate from the 'List
Certificates' window on CIS. You can set some of the status
settings yourself by amendments on-line. Others are set by the
system automatically.
The CIS system recognises six different status settings for
certificates. They are listed below:
valid
lost/stolen
ceased
invalidated
expired
cancelled
More detailed information about these status settings is
provided in the following paragraphs together with guidance on when
and how you can alter certificate status on the system.
