CERTIFICATE APPLICATION FORMS: INTRODUCTION
This paragraph serves as an introductory overview of certificate
applications; for deeper coverage use the above links to
information or action guides.
This module on certificate applications covers the process
from the issue of application forms to the hand over of the form
for submission to the qualifying tests at the Processing Office.
The conduct of those tests is covered by other modules in this
chapter.
Subjects covered here are
- the issue of application forms
- the counter check for individual applicants
- checks at the Processing Office to ensure that forms are complete and all relevant Revenue systems are ready to produce a certificate if the application is approved.
All individuals wanting to apply for a certificate need to
complete an application form and present it in person to a Revenue
office counter. Company applications can be sent direct to the
relevant Processing Office since there is no counter check
involved.
The Revenue has made a commitment to issue certificates to
all subcontractors as soon as possible following receipt of new
applications. In normal circumstances a certificate will be issued
within 3 days of receipt of an authorised application at the CIS
Centre. If the application is for a CIS5/CIS5(Partner) and is
likely to be delayed, for example, because a business case requires
approval by BS(CIS), you should consider the issue of an interim
CIS6 certificate (See CIS3111 for details).
