CCM14218 - Closing the Enquiry: Is a settlement meeting needed?

Where the enquiry has been worked remotely there will not normally be a settlement meeting unless the claimant asks for one or you believe this is necessary.

In other cases you should consider whether it would be helpful to meet the claimant(s) to discuss their settlement proposals. This may be useful where you are unsure how the claimant will fund the settlement or you think they may not have fully understood the settlement proposals. However, in many cases the settlement can be discussed in a telephone call or detailed in a letter.
