BIM73115 - Farmers' averaging: which years may be averaged

An averaging claim can cover any two consecutive years of assessment during which the claimant was carrying on a trade of farming or market gardening, except:

• a year of assessment which precedes a year which has already been included in an averaging claim,
• the year of assessment in which the trade commenced,
• the year of assessment in which the trade ceased.
