BIM14020 - Schedule D: Origin

The origins of ICTA88/S18 (see BIM14010) lie in the 1799 and 1803 Acts which first charged Income Tax in the United Kingdom. The term 'Schedule' comes from the time when the equivalent provisions were in a schedule to the main Act. Since 1952 they have appeared in the main text of the Act.
