BIM14010 - Schedule D: Scope

The fundamental scope of Schedule D comes from ICTA88/S18. Tax is to be charged on-

i) the annual profits or gains arising or accruing-

(a) to a resident of the UK from any kind of property or from any trade profession or vocation. The property or the carrying on of the trade etc. can be in the UK or elsewhere

(b) to a non resident of the UK from any property in the UK or from any trade etc. exercised within the UK

ii) all interest of money, annuities and other annual profits or gains not charged under Schedule A, B, C, or E and not specially exempted.

Schedule B was repealed from 1988-89 and Schedule C from 1996-97.
