Follow closely the evidence given during examination in chief of
the appellant or his witnesses and note the principal questions and
answers. The answers may require you to amend or supplement your
notes for cross-examination.
Do not take technical legal points on procedure unless
absolutely necessary, but if it does become necessary you must
object at once. For example if a non-expert is asked for his
opinion you must object before the witness replies. If you wait
until after the witness has replied, his statement will be before
the Commissioners and it will, in purely human terms, be very
difficult to persuade them to disregard what they have heard.
