IHTM31020 - Assessment principles: Examples as to when assessments should not be withdrawn

If assessments have been issued and the amount of tax has not changed, the assessments should not be withdrawn.

Examples of common circumstances and alternative course of action are as follows:

Calculation issued – payment receivedDo not withdraw calculation to re- issue and show monies received. If unmatched send Cas 15 ( IHTM31852) to Cashiers.

 

Calculation issued – shortfall in receiptPhone/issue letter to remind/establish when the shortfall will be paid ( IHTM38023).

 

Calculation issued – excess money receivedMark calculation as paid – the balance will be shown as a deposit on SAGE

 

Calculation issued – further interest dueCalculate additional interest due ( IHTM31540) and advise parties. Upon receipt of monies, pay original Calculation and issue a calculation, using the ‘Adjustments box’ ( IHTM31864) and deposit box to collect further interest.

 

Calculation issued for further interest and Customer requests update

Repayment CalculationsDo not withdraw a repayment calculation {including part repayment, part set off repayments} unless the Sect 6A cancellation form has been processed by Shipley or the file retrieved, with the Warrant from Repayments prior to despatch of the Sect 6 to Shipley ( IHTM31711).

If a repayment calculation being set off is withdrawn the calculation receiving the money must be withdrawn.

 

Instalment Option Property [IOP]:

 

1/10 issued but all monies paidIf the property is to remain as IOP pay the 1/10 and issue a further calculation for 9/10, using the excess money received as a deposit.
