I used to be a salesman, but I wanted a change. I thought working in the Civil Service would be more secure and the other benefits, such as flexible working, sounded great. I work in a Recovery team which means we collect outstanding tax debts from customers, so I get to talk to a wide variety of people every day.

It can be a difficult job, but there's good training and lots of support. I like the fact that I’m given the responsibility to make decisions on my cases. My office has a really friendly environment and flexible working has turned out to be a real bonus. So long as I'm up-to-date with my work, I can finish early some days and do other things. I just make up the time later.
