Possible change to the ISA Regulations
This Bulletin contains a draft regulation on a change that the Government may make to the ISA regulations. Comments are invited by Wednesday 29 October 2008. Enquiries should be addressed to David Taylor.
In recent years the UK government has worked closely with other national governments to develop a vision for international poverty reduction, which is set out in the Millennium Development Goals. These are an internationally agreed set of objectives, providing a global framework for development.
Many multilateral development institutions, which receive grants payments from national governments, issue securities on the capital markets, with the aim of front-loading funding for development goals. The government is considering amending the ISA Regulations to enable investors to hold such securities within a stocks and shares ISA.
Comments are invited on the attached draft regulation by Wednesday 29 October. The DAC Statistical Reporting Directive referred to in the draft regulation can be found on the OECD website.
