cca84/s16.- County Courts Act 1984 Section 16 Money recoverable by Statute

 

 

16. A county Court shall have jurisdiction to hear and determine an action for the recovery of a sum recoverable by virtue of any enactment for the time being in force, if -

   
 

    (a) it is not provided by that or any other enactment that such sums shall only be recoverable in the High Court or shall only be recoverable summarily; and

   
 

    (b) the amount claimed in the action does not exceed the county court limit 1 ].

1 At present £5,000 with effect from 1 October 1982 under the county Courts Jurisdiction Order 1981 (S.I. 1981 No.1123). S.145 of the County courts Act 1984 contains a power to raise the limit ny Order in Council.
