*There is currently a two year pay freeze which applies to HM Revenue & Customs (HMRC) staff in 2011-12 and 2012-13. This affects everyone earning more than the full-time equivalent of £21,000 a year.

HMRC has  introduced a guaranteed minimum salary, linked to competence, after two years on the programme.

The scheme will be reviewed in 2013-14 when the department exits the pay freeze.

If you are successful and make it to the end of the programme, HMRC would expect you to be promoted to a Grade 7 post. This is an important role in HMRC. The current pay scale for a Grade 7 in HMRC begins at £46,983 pro-rata (National), £52,669 pro-rata (London).
