If you’ve got leadership potential, and want to develop the confidence, skills and qualities needed to manage people and change, this one’s for you.
There’s nowhere better to get a solid career foundation than in the HM Revenue & Customs (HMRC) large and complex business environment, where change is endemic and driven by substantial investment in new technology. HMRC is always looking for better ways of working and ways to serve its millions of customers.
So HMRC managers do more than just manage: they motivate people and they deliver improvements in process and performance.
The Management Fast Track has been designed to prepare you for anything management at HMRC can throw at you, whether you find yourself in front-line operational management, strategy and planning, project delivery or any of the business functions.
You’ll emerge with the kind of management skills that can take you anywhere.
As everyone has different development needs, you’ll be allocated a manager, a mentor and a Development Manager and together, you’ll decide the best programme path for you. Making the right decisions at this stage means faster progress throughout.
You'll begin studying for your Institute of Leadership and Management (ILM) accreditation. Your formal training will be complemented by on the job training in order to meet your all round development needs. So, as well as attending Development Centres and external courses, you’ll do a series of carefully chosen jobs in different locations and business areas. Each will last between six to twelve months, offers real, hands-on management responsibility and aims to develop specific senior management capabilities.
Being flexible about where you are placed is important as it means you can get the broadest possible experience, and so the best start to your management career.
