This table describes the assets and liabilities of estates passing on death in tax year 2020 to 2021 which were liable to Inheritance Tax.

Details
This table includes all estates on HMRC’s databases for people who died in the tax year 2020 to 2021 and were liable for an Inheritance Tax charge. It shows how many of the estates owned each type of asset and the total value of these assets.
Estates are broken down by gender, age and marital status of the deceased.
