Service availability
Full service available.
If you’re trying to create, sign in or reset your user ID or password, check for known problems with Government Gateway.
Sign in to the NOVA online service.
Planned downtime
None.
Service issues
Your personal tax account will not give you access to the NOVA online service.
You will need to sign in to the NOVA only service to:

create and amend vehicle notifications
-
view messages from HMRC
System error when using spreadsheets for bulk notifications
To avoid getting a system error you should:

download the latest version of the spreadsheet, each time you need to make a bulk notification

use Microsoft Office 2010 or LibreOffice software to open the spreadsheet (if your version of MS Office is not the 2010 edition you will need to use LibreOffice)

save the spreadsheet with the file extension .ods do not convert it to any other file types (such as .xls or .xlxs)

enter the information into the boxes provided without any leading spaces, they should line up to the left-hand side — if in any doubt, remove the suspect entry and type it in

If you have followed the guidance and continue to receive a system error, contact the online services helpdesk.
System error when not using spreadsheets (for up to 100 notifications)
If you’re not using a spreadsheet, your notification is saved and checked for errors when you select next to move through each page of the service.
If you use the back button on your browser or navigate away from a page without saving your entries, a system error can occur.
You have the option to delete your notification and start a new one.
If you continue to receive a system error, contact the online services helpdesk.
Other issues
From 11 September 2023 you must manually complete your vehicle details using the appropriate boxes within the NOVA online service, the drop-down selections are no longer available.
