The euro: euro notes and coins

We ask customers wishing to pay in euro notes that the currency is taken to a Post Office, or bank branch, where they will be exchanged at the prevaling rate. Payment, in sterling, may then be made through your bank branch or the Post Office.

HMRC offices at ports and airports continue to accept euro notes for the payment of customs import duty and VAT, up to a limit of £600.

Please contact your local Recovery Office, or ring the Contact Centre (National Advice Service (0845 010 9000)) for further information and advice about paying in euro.

Alternatively you can pay us by an electronic method using either BACS Direct Credit or CHAPs through your bank.
