2008-09 PAYE payslips and payslip booklets

You will notice the payslips in the booklet have changed. We have removed the separate ‘Net Income Tax’ (TAX) and ‘Net National Insurance’ (NICs) amount boxes.

If you pay over the counter at the bank or Post Office, or post your payment, you now only need to show your combined TAX and NICs payment in the ‘Amount due’ box. There is no need to show the split between TAX and NICs. When we receive your payment, we will split this between TAX and NICs in accordance with set formulae, and make any adjustments when we process your PAYE End of Year Return.

2008-09 PAYE payslip booklets

There was a delay in issuing the 2008-09 payslip booklets. All booklets will be issued by Monday 28 April, in time for you to make your first PAYE payment for 2008-09. We are sorry for any inconvenience caused.

If you have not received your payslip booklet by 9 May, please phone 0845 366 7816 and we will arrange to let you have a duplicate.

You may not need a payslip booklet to pay electronically, and you have extra time to pay as electronic payments are due by 22nd of each month, or quarter if you pay quarterly. Paying PAYE electronically is the quickest, most convenient and securest way to ensure your payment is received on time. Our Internet guidance tells you how to do this.

If you have nothing to pay, you don’t need a payslip either, you can tell us online using the ’No PAYE/NICs payment due’ facility on our website, or by phoning 0845 366 7816

For information on how to pay electronically or declare no payment is due, visit our Howtopay pages.
