13.5 Changes to the P45

In October 2008 we will be introducing a ‘plain paper’ P45. From that date, if you submit online, you will be able to print the P45 parts1a-3 on plain A4
paper instead of using our pre-printed stationery. There will be no facility for any employer-specific designs of the forms.

You can use choose to use HMRC’s pre-printed form for some employees and the plain paper version for others. The decision whether to make the change is for you to decide.

From October 2008 we will be updating the pre-printed paper P45 to include date of birth and gender fields.
