National Minimum Wage

Enforcement notices are currently issued to employers in respect of non-payment of national minimum wage arrears.

In January 2007 the Department of Trade and Industry issued guidance advising that penalties will normally be issued where an employer has failed to pay all the arrears shown on an enforcement notice within the 28 day appeal period. The minimum penalty an employer can face is currently around £225.
