Temporary arrangements for validating Excise Numbers
At the end of January 2009, all Member States were required to deliver their SEED records to the EU in a format which will support the introduction of Excise Movement and Control System (EMCS). The UK successfully delivered the majority of SEED records to the EU in anticipation of EMCS being introduced. However, as a result of this action, there are a number of existing trader records which failed data migration and these records currently do not appear on the SEED-on-Europa website. This is a temporary system fault which we are urgently rectifying and appears to be a problem encountered not only in the UK but by other Member States’ SEED systems as well.
It does not affect the authorisation of these businesses to receive and despatch goods in duty suspension.
If you should encounter problems in other Member States as your supplier cannot verify your number on SEED please contact the National Verification Centre in Glasgow.
National Verification Centre staff will make every effort to resolve any
technical issues you may be experiencing. As you can appreciate there may
be a high volume of calls at this time so we ask that your initial enquiries
are submitted by email – clearly dated and stating in the subject box
the nature of your request. Any subsequent emails should refer to the date
of the original request. For more urgent matters you can also contact the
team by phone on 0141 555 3616.
