Stamp Duty Land Tax Online: Software and online forms
A range of Internet filing enabled software and online forms are available from HM Revenue & Customs (HMRC) and commercial software suppliers. These can be used to file Stamp Duty Land Tax forms SDLT1, SDLT2, SDLT3 & SDLT4. You can choose the product that best suits your needs. We are pleased to accept forms and returns filed using any of the products listed.
The table below lists third party products that have been successfully tested with us to ensure that their SDLT1, SDLT2, SDLT3 and SDLT4 can be filed over the Internet.
From 1 November 2006 a substitute electronic version of the SDLT5 may be used in place of the official SDLT5 certificate. This can be reproduced as either a replica of the paper version or a simplified version in table format.
A number of commercial software suppliers are still currently testing their products with us. When they have tested successfully, they will be added to the list below. HMRC has only tested the ability of the third party product to send a valid form or return over the Internet and has not tested any of its other features.
A technical pack containing documentation required to support the development of software for the online filing of Stamp Duty Land Tax returns over the Internet is available. This pack is aimed at Software Developers only and not for Solicitors, Conveyancers etc, who may wish to use the Stamp Duty Land Tax Online service.
HMRC provides its own free product, 'Online Tax Return - Land Transaction'. This lets you file Stamp Duty Land Tax forms SDLT1, SDLT2, SDLT3 and SDLT4. We have tested all the features of this service and will provide support to users through our Online Services Helpdesk. This will be one of the available filing options once you have logged on to our Online Services.
