About Tax Matters

In May 2009 HM Revenue & Customs (HMRC) launched Tax Matters, a set of three online interactive modules for 11 - 19 year olds, developed in accordance with the national personal, social, health and economic education (PSHE) curriculum covering:

  • Income Tax
  • National Insurance
  • Tax and Society (Citizenship)

The modules use video interviews, interactive online games, fact files, fun facts and quizzes - such as 'do you know why the tax year starts on 6 April?' - to help you teach young people about tax in an interesting and engaging way.

Use our Tax Matters modules to help your understand the tax system and prepare them for a working life after school.

The Tax Matters modules have achieved the pfeg Quality Mark, which shows that this resource meets the pfeg quality standards. At the time of issue the resource contains educational benefits and accurate financial information. Please visit www.pfeg.org for further information about the Quality Mark.

Visit the next page, ‘Using Tax Matters’ for information on using the resource in the classroom.
