Using HMRC'S product – Online Return and Forms - CIS

Since April 2007 you’ve been able to file your monthly returns (Forms CIS 300) online and verify subcontractors.

Verifying subcontractors is a new process, you can check to see whether you should pay a subcontractor gross or net. You should perform a verification when you take on a new subcontractor. One of the biggest benefits to verifying online is that you’ll be able to verify up to 100 subcontractors in one go and you’ll receive online verification results for each one.

Introduction to CIS – An overview of your Organisation’s CIS information

  1. You can add, verify and view subcontractors on your subcontractor list and look at the results of your last verification request.

  2. 'File monthly return' lets you to enter and submit your monthly return; it lets you submit a ‘Nil Return’ and request in-activity. You can also view a history of all the monthly returns you have submitted from April 2007.

  3. 'View a list of available third party products' lets you see a list of all the commercial software products that have gained HMRC recognition and proved they have the ability to file a valid form or CIS Return and make verification requests.
