Self Assessment Online is simple, secure and available 24 hours a day.
You can use either the free HM Revenue & Customs (HMRC) Self Assessment service or commercial software to send your return online.
This demonstrator shows you how to use the free HMRC service. The demo is based on the 2007/8 Self Assessment tax return so may differ slightly from this years return. It doesn't calculate anything for you but will guide you through some of the online screens.

Remember, your online tax return must reach HMRC by midnight on 31 January. If you miss the deadline you'll be charged a penalty.
