Overview of how to register and enrol
You must confirm that you have read the terms and conditions for submitting online returns and payments.
You'll be asked to supply your name and create your own password. HMRC will display on screen your unique User ID., You must make a note of this and keep it safe, as you will need it every time you log in to use HMRC Online Services. It will not be displayed again.
You then enrol for your chosen service(s) by entering the necessary details. For example:
- Your Self Assessment agent reference number and postcode to use the Self Assessment Online Service for Agents
- Your Corporation Tax agent reference number and registered office postcode (the postcode must match the postcode provided when you registered for your Corporation Tax agent reference) to use the Corporation Tax Online Service for agents.
Other services require slightly different criteria but this is displayed on-screen.
HMRC will then display the services you've enrolled for and send you an Activation Code (also known as an Activation PIN) by post for online services that need one.
Finally you'll activate your services using the Activation Code(s).
