Get a VAT registration number online

To register your client's business online as a VAT registered business, go to www.hmrc.gov.uk and follow the 'Log in' link from the 'Do it online' menu. From the ‘Log in to HMRC Online Services’ screen under the heading ‘Registered users’ follow the ‘VAT' link. You'll be presented with the Welcome screen. Please enter your user ID and password then click the 'Login' button to get to the 'Your HMRC services' page.
