Joint Tax Agent Strategy Steering Group

Joint Tax Agent Strategy Steering Group (JTASSG) is a forum through which the tax agent community can steer the development of HMRC's Agent Strategy and the associated change programme over the Spending Review period (2011-15). Proposals include the development of a new, more secure agent enrolment process, putting control of more client transactions into agents' hands and supporting the profession to maintain and, where necessary, improve standards.

The group comprises representatives from the main tax agent professional bodies and has been established to:

  • provide strategic leadership and insight to the programme on priorities, scope and proposed delivery timetable
  • identify the risks associated with and the benefits of change for agents
  • contribute to the development and delivery of external communications about the programme
  • provide oversight of the design, testing and roll-out of new services, processes and infrastructure
