Joint Alcohol and Tobacco Consultation Group (JATCG)
The JATCG has been running for some years now. It consists of representatives from the alcohol and tobacco trade association including those representing warehousekeepers and some hauliers.
Historically the Group was intended to act as a sounding board for the alcohol,
tobacco and holding and movement policy teams, to provide a forum for the
trade to raise any issues of concern and discuss issues of the day.
Discussions of the pure policy issues (duty rates and structural issues) are
conducted bilaterally between individual trade associations and the relevant
policy team rather than in open forum.
The Group hold two fixed meetings a year with ad hoc meetings taking place as necessary. They are chaired by the Director of Excise and Stamp Duty.
