HMRC Accounting and Tax Group

(formerly International Accounting Standards Steering Group)

The predecessor Steering Group was set up in 2003 to consider the tax implications of UK companies using International Accounting Standards (IAS). Finance Bill 2004 legislated to allow companies to use IAS in their non consolidated accounts. The Consultative Forum went on to consider the impact on business of this new legislation and to discuss what other work was necessary.

With the transitional IAS work now done, the new focus of the Group is directed towards the monitoring of both new UK accounting standards and new IAS and their impact on tax.

The Group is attended by a mix of representatives from HMRC, Treasury, Business and Professional Bodies.
