High Net Worth Unit - External Stakeholder Forum

The High Net Worth Unit (HNWU) External Stakeholder Forum was set up following the launch of the High Net Worth Unit in April 2009. The Unit deals with the personal tax affairs of the UK’s wealthiest individuals.

Consultation and engagement with customers and their professional representatives is one of the key underlying principles of the Unit. The Unit is committed to developing co-operative and mutually beneficial relationships so that it can better understand and respond to customers’ service and compliance needs.

External members of this forum comprise of a cross-section of representatives from professional bodies. Internal membership is likely to be dynamic so that appropriate subject matter specialists and policy owners can be involved on a thematic basis.

The forum is chaired by the Unit Head, Martin Randall, or in his absence, one of his Senior Management Team.

The purpose of the forum is to:

  • enable HM Revenue & Customs (HMRC) to gain a better understanding of High Net Worth individuals and their commercial environment
  • discuss, develop and promote co-operative compliance for dealing with the tax affairs of High Net Worth individuals
  • allow representative bodies to understand and contribute to the development of this part of HMRC’s operations

The first meeting of the forum took place in March 2010 and the minutes and agendas can be found below, together with the terms of reference. The forum meets on a quarterly basis, and the dates of forthcoming meetings are listed on the HMRC website in the schedule of consultative meetings.
