Shipowner or managing owner
“Owner” of a vessel means:
- the person to whom the vessel belongs and who (subject to the rights
of the captain or master) has control of the vessel
- if the vessel is demised or sub-demised, the “owner” is
the person who the vessel is chartered to and who is entitled to control
the vessel
“Managing Owner”
Where there is more than one owner of a vessel, the managing owner is the
person responsible for the control and management of the ship.
