Shipowner or managing owner

“Owner” of a vessel means:

  • the person to whom the vessel belongs and who (subject to the rights of the captain or master) has control of the vessel
  • if the vessel is demised or sub-demised, the “owner” is the person who the vessel is chartered to and who is entitled to control the vessel

“Managing Owner”

Where there is more than one owner of a vessel, the managing owner is the person responsible for the control and management of the ship.
