Check whether your bank / builiding society interest can be paid without tax taken off

The law allows everyone who lives in the UK to receive some income, at least £104 a week, before tax has to be paid. If your income is below that limit, and you've got some money in the bank or building society, you will be paying tax on your interest when you don't have to.

If you live in the UK, use this checker to see if you should be filling in the form 'Getting your interest without tax taken off' (form R85). If you need further details about a question, please click on the question mark next to that question.

If you need further help, please phone the Bank and Building Society Interest Helpline on 0845 980 0645. The Helpline is open 8.30am to 5.00pm Monday to Thursday and 8.30am to 4.30pm Friday

You should supply details for the period 6 April - 5 April . Enter whole pounds only.

Before you start you will need bank statements, pension details etc'
