Compliance checks - consultation ends 6 March
HMRC invites responses by 6 March 2009 on whether to apply the Finance Act 2008 record keeping and time-limit principles to other HMRC taxes. This was first considered in ‘Compliance checks: The Next Stage’ November 2008 consultation document.
Charities
This document summarises the responses to a consultation seeking to minimise tax avoidance by substantial donors capitalising on generous tax reliefs to charities, whilst minimising the administrative burden on charities themselves. The document is available for download from the HMRC website.
HMRC Charter
HMRC Customer Charter - second consultation ends 12 May
The HMRC Charter is scheduled to be published in summer 2009, laying out customers’ rights and responsibilities and helping to ensure that the tax system is as useable and accessible as possible. One consultation has already been completed. A second began on 3 February and will end on 12 May 2009. Agents and their customers are invited to contribute their thoughts on the draft Charter online.
