Altering the size of your mouse pointer in Windows XP

If you have difficulties finding your mouse on-screen, you may wish to change your mouse pointer.

  1. Click 'Start' or press the 'Windows' logo key or press 'Ctrl' + 'Esc'.
  2. Click 'Control Panel' or press 'C' and press 'Enter'.
  3. Double click on ‘Printers and Other Hardware’.
  4. Double click on ‘Mouse’.
  5. 'Mouse Properties' should be displayed.
  6. Click the 'Pointers' tab or press 'Ctrl' + 'Tab' until it is at the front.
  7. Below 'Scheme' is a drop down box that contains sets of mouse pointers you can use. Click on this box, or press 'Tab' until 'Scheme' is highlighted, and use the arrow keys to move through the list.
  8. To choose a scheme either click on it or if it is already highlighted press 'Enter'.
  9. Select a size of mouse pointer within the scheme. Use the scroll down bar to the right if necessary.
  10. Left click on the mouse or press ‘Enter’ if highlighted.
  11. Left click ‘OK’ at the bottom of the ‘mouse properties’ box to confirm your selection.
  12. Close the control panel.
