Altering the double click speed of your mouse in Mac OS X

If you have difficulties 'double clicking' the left mouse button (clicking twice in quick succession), you can reduce the double click speed.

  1. Press 'Ctrl' + 'F2'.
  2. Click 'System Preferences' or press the down arrow key to highlight it and press 'Enter'.
  3. Click 'Keyboard & Mouse' or press 'Tab' repeatedly until 'Keyboard & Mouse' is highlighted and press 'Spacebar'.
  4. Click 'Mouse' tab or press 'Ctrl' + 'F7' to highlight one of the four tabs and use the arrow keys to select the 'Mouse' tab.
  5. Click 'Double-Click Speed' bar to select a more comfortable 'Double-click' speed, or press 'Tab' until the blue pointer is highlighted in the 'Double-Click Speed' bar and use the arrow keys to select your speed. Use the box with the text 'Double-Click here to check your settings.
  6. Click 'Close' at the top of the 'Keyboard & Mouse' window or press 'Apple' + 'W'.
